Chatsworth Ideas
In the midst of a global crisis, Chatsworth Schools wanted to inspire its children to think big and dream big, so they partnered with the award-winning education company 7billionideas to launch a competition called #ChatsworthIDEAS2020.
In the first week of home schooling, pupils in Years 3-6, across all Chatsworth schools had the opportunity to generate and then develop one idea that could change the world. No boundaries were set on their ideas, the only criteria was that ideas must have a positive impact on the planet. Thousands of children across multiple year groups became involved, generating and developing ideas creating marketing campaigns, business plans and product prototypes.
The ChatsworthIDEAS 2020 winner is….
Suhaylah Hussain, Crown House Preparatory School
Seven finalists and their ideas were selected and voted on and we’re delighted to announce that Suhaylah Hussain from Crown House Preparatory School is the competition winner with her innovative and eco-friendly plastic idea. Suhaylah’s invention is a new type of plastic that instantly dissolves when in contact with water that has a high salt content. Suhaylah is passionate about looking after our oceans and believes that in 2020 we must stand up and take action.
7billionideas will now work with Suhaylah to turn her idea into a children’s book that will go on sale on Amazon, so her idea will never be forgotten and can help inspire others.
David Harkin, CEO of 7billionideas said “What an amazing idea from Suhaylah – we told pupils at all Chatsworth run schools to think big and she certainly did that and who is to say it isn’t possible! In the midst of everything going on, we wanted #ChatsworthIDEAS to release the creativity in every child and give them a project that was exciting, fun and would unlock their entrepreneurial spirit. That’s exactly what happened. Thousands of ideas came forward and I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the work submitted. We have a brilliant winner and we can’t wait to make her idea into a book”.
Anita Gleave, Founder and CEO of Chatsworth Schools said “I am so proud of all Chatsworth Schools pupils who took part in this innovative competition. They all created such magnificent, world changing ideas! Chatsworth Schools prides itself on our innovation, entrepreneurial and dynamic vision and I‘m delighted to see this reflected in our wonderful pupils every day. Many congrats to all and thanks to our fab partners 7billion ideas!
We invited our younger pupils to take part with ideas to expand and develop and were delighted to receive many ideas from Years 1 and 2;
We are pleased to announce that the overall winner is…
Mia Rycroft, Year 1 Highfield Prep School for her fabulous ‘Mind Reading Dog Bed and Collar’ – there are compartments for everything a dog might need. Each compartment has a special button wirelessly connected to a sensor on the dog’s collar which then instructs a release of whatever the dog needs. The project was accompanied by a marvellous model of the invention.
A special commendation must go to the two pre-school entries from Dia Dev and Penelope Ryan at Benedict House.
Our thanks to all those who took part at every level, a truly sterling effort and we look forward to our schools being able to display the projects in September for all to admire.
