Charity and Community
Charity Work
Considering others less fortunate than ourselves is always being an important part of life at Pattison. The three school houses support local charities with fundraising activities organised by the house captains, and the whole school has raised funds for various national and local organisations, including Coventry Food Bank, the British Legion, Children in Need, and the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group. The annual Macmillan coffee morning is always well attended and also helps raise money for Macmillan research.
Community Relations
Pattison has been part of the community for over 90 years and the school continues to involve itself fully in local affairs, whether by supporting the local residents association, or Pattison pupils visiting residents of local care homes several times a year, harvest festival donations to local food banks, singing at Coventry University or at the University Hospital, and at other local events and locations.
Pupils sing and dance at the annual Dame Goodyver’s Day festival – a project about social inclusion in collaboration with the Godiva Trust and Heritage Open Days. They also perform at various charity events, raising funds, for example, to help research into children’s cancer. Year 11 pupils are involved with Challenge UK and the charities supported by the school houses are all local.
